Yes, we have a limited number of tickets to see Aladdin, the Musical on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 8p. While this event is only for girls, we do have a limited number of tickets for adult chaperones. The tickets are $60 for girl scouts and $75 for adults and include bus transportation. Dues

Don’t forget, each girl has $75 troop dues that supports the troop. At this time all dues should have been paid. Reminders will be sent home in January, as they must be paid before cookie orders are turned in. Troop dues covers the cost of books, other supplies and snacks.

Dues were payable in 3 installments of $25.00 each. The first dues payment was payable on Friday, October 8th, the second payment was due on November 4th and the final payment was due on December 2nd.

Winter Accessory Drive

We’re in the midst of our annual community service project - our winter accessory drive! While homeless children and families frequently get donated coats, they don't always get accessories. So for four weeks, we'll be collecting hats, scarves and gloves to give to children and adults who are less fortunate. The last time we were able, we collected a large bag of accessories and even 1 coat!  Look for a Christmas-wrapped collection box in all buildings until December 20th.

Cookie Sale 2023

Cookie time is almost here! The Cookie Sale kicks off Tuesday, January 3rd. Because we won’t have a meeting until the end of that week, we’re sending home cookie information now. Girls are on their honor not to take orders before January 3rd. Paper orders will have the same 9 cookie variety line-up as last year, as well as the same prices. Regular cookies sell for $5.00/box, while Premium cookies, Toffee-tastics and S’mores, are $6.00/box.

All parents MUST register for Digital Cookie. You will receive an email to register for Digital Cookie in late December.  With Digital Cookie, parents can post links to the cookie sale on their personal social media sites to publicize the sale and take online cookie sales. Additionally there is a new cookie, Raspberry Rallies, that will ONLY be available through girls’ Digital Cookie pages. Please email me at charter_girlscouts@yahoo.com, if you don’t receive your welcome email from GSUSA.

All paper and digital orders are due on January 25th, in order to count towards initial order rewards. You can place your order online and pay through Digital Cookie using a debit or credit card. You will also be able to complete the order form link and pay with PayPal, Venmo, Zelle or CashApp. More information will follow on how to submit your order.

Investiture/Rededication Ceremony

A part of being a Girl Scout is working to incorporate the Girl Scout Promise and Law into our daily lives, so we’re having a combination Investiture/Rededication ceremony. An investiture ceremony welcomes all new members to Girl Scouts, while a rededication ceremony is a way for returning members to renew their commitment to the Girl Scout Promise and Law. During the ceremony girls reflect on the ideals of the Girl Scout Movement and what it means to join a sisterhood of millions of girls. Our Investiture Ceremony is January 6th.

Sail Away, Finally!

We instituted a trip just for girls who are in the 8th grade and above. COVID and its restrictions put it on hold in 2021 and 2022, but now it’s back. All girls who have completed the 8th grade will be able to take a cruise with the troop. Parents are welcome, but not required. Eligible older girls (and their parents) can take the trip every 3 years, starting in 2023 and continuing in 2026. Girls have banked their cookie credit, for 3 years, to cover the cost of the cruise. The postponed inaugural cruise, to the Caribbean with a side trip to Disney World, will be during Spring Break, April 10-16, 2023 on the Carnival Freedom.

To cover additional expenses and airfare, the older girls will have a Double Good Pop-up shop in late January after cookie orders are due. Girls will earn half of what they sell in popcorn to use toward the cruise. See Dr. Holman for more information, see what you’ve banked and the payment dates. Final deposits for the trip will be due Jaunary 6th.
